Dr. Mark Howell has served as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Daytona, Florida since 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN and both the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Dr. Howell has been in the ministry for twenty-five years and has served churches in Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas. Additionally, he served on the faculty of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky as Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Ministries. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for both Midwestern and Southeastern Baptist Seminaries.

Why Expository Preaching?

The power of an effective pulpit ministry is not determined by the rhetorical ability with which one preaches. Nor is it authenticated by the size of the congregation to which one speaks. The power of an effective ministry is determined by the faithfulness with which one seeks clearly, consistently, and courageously to proclaim the whole counsel of God.
