Leah Boyd

Leah Boyd is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity at Truett Seminary and Master of Music in Church Music (Vocal Performance) at Baylor University. She is a 2020 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she attained her Bachelor of Music Education (voice and piano). Ms. Boyd currently serves as the Music Minister at First Baptist Church, Valley Mills TX. In her spare time, she enjoys tweeting humorous reflections about her seminary and ministry experiences as the “Sassy Seminary Student,” @LeahBSassy.

Women in SBC Hymnody by Leah Boyd

When I look down at my hymnal and see the name of a woman as the author of the hymn being sung, it is a comforting reminder to me that women are welcomed to use their artistic, poetic, and musical giftings in service to the Lord within Southern Baptist churches.
